What ages do you care for?
The Children’s House provides early years care and education for children from birth to five.
If you require childcare for an older child, please contact us to ask about current Out of School Club provision. The existing nursery site also records provision historically for children aged 5–11.
Can I visit the nursery before deciding?
Yes. We encourage prospective families to come and experience The Children’s House for themselves.
Complete our Book a Visit form and a member of our team will contact you to arrange a suitable time. The current site also states that nursery visits are welcomed on most days.
How will my child be helped to settle in?
We recognise that every child responds differently to starting nursery.
We work closely with families, learn about your child’s routines and interests and help them become familiar with their Key Person, environment and nursery day at a pace that supports them.
Will my child have a Key Person?
Yes. Your child’s Key Person gets to know them particularly well, supports them in becoming familiar with nursery and maintains regular communication with you about their experiences and development.
How will I know what my child has been doing?
Regular communication between nursery and home is important to us.
Your child’s Key Person can share information about their experiences and development, with more detailed care information provided for younger children where appropriate.
Do you offer funded childcare?
We provide funded early-years childcare subject to eligibility, available places and our current funding arrangements.
Government support currently includes 30 hours for eligible working families from nine months to school age, universal 15 hours for three- and four-year-olds, and 15 hours for some eligible two-year-olds receiving additional support.
What is Montessori education?
Montessori is a child-centred approach that encourages independence, concentration, choice and hands-on learning within a carefully prepared environment.
At The Children’s House, Montessori principles work alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage.
How do you support children with SEND?
We aim to understand every child as an individual and work closely with families when additional or different support may be needed.
Where appropriate, our team can also work alongside the SEND Lead and relevant outside professionals.
How do you help children prepare for school?
School transition is supported through everyday opportunities to develop confidence and independence, dedicated preparation as children approach Reception, communication with receiving schools and additional transition support where appropriate.

What if my child has an allergy or dietary requirement?
Please speak with our team before your child starts nursery so that we can discuss their individual needs and explain our current procedures.
