Starting school is an exciting milestone.
Our aim is to help children approach this next stage with confidence, independence, curiosity and a positive attitude towards learning and change.
Preparing for school is about much more than knowing letters and numbers.
Throughout nursery life, children are supported to build skills such as:
As children approach their move into Reception, we introduce experiences that help school feel familiar and positive.
Our existing transition approach includes dedicated preparation for children who will be leaving nursery for school, alongside positive conversations, stories and opportunities to talk about what their next step may look like.

Our Prep Class
Our Prep Class gives children preparing to leave for school additional opportunities to build confidence and become familiar with some of the experiences associated with their next stage.
Once your child’s school place is confirmed, we encourage you to let us know where they will be going.
Where possible and appropriate, we work with receiving schools to support continuity. This may include welcoming Reception staff into nursery and supporting transition visits.
With appropriate arrangements in place, information about your child’s learning, development, interests and experiences can help their new teacher understand them as an individual.
The existing transition process includes sharing assessment information and “All About Me” information with receiving teachers.
Some children may benefit from additional preparation before starting school.
For children with additional needs, we work with families and receiving schools to consider whether additional visits or individual transition arrangements would be helpful.
